RECAP

In bizarre and unforeseeable events that limit our freedoms, daily life can feel like a drag. Staying afloat in a storm of events like this can feel stressful. Time is your friend. One thing we mustn't forget is to reward ourselves with rejuvenation and relaxation we deserve.

TODAY’S BREAKDOWN

As we venture further into experiencing a global pandemic from the comfort of our own homes, the issue of body image and physical change has been wildly popular over social media. From how I see it, we have a central divide between those who wish to push themselves for a new weight goal, diet or workout regimen while others see it more as an opportunity to rest, experiment and indulge while there’s nothing else there is to do. There are pros to both paths you take however, with each path comes an opportunity to find discomfort or disbelief in your own skin.

Struggle with body image tends to be heavily stigmatized especially around people who desperately desire this socially constructed perfection. It can be inferred that often women and girls are the ones most prone to this “disease” as some call it. The way I see it is that body image to all is a struggle for all in some aspects big or small. Bigger boobs, smaller waist, solid abs, bigger biceps, the list could go on forever.

In a time as questionable as this, we are given a lot more time to ourselves; A lot more time to look and feel ourselves as individuals and a lot of time to criticize ourselves for what we have too much or not enough of. Living through a month both taking place during a worldwide pandemic as well as being dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of mental well-being, it should be a given of just how important it is to be mindful but also gentle with yourself.

Being mindful and treating oneself in a forbearing and kind way is something many people find unfortunately difficult to do. With this time that you get to yourself, self motivation can be an incredible booster. One small thing a day can make all the difference. Whether it’s cooking and eating your favorite meal, taking a bike ride or even sticking to an exercise regimen that you put off can and should be rewarded with self praise.

We’ve already got so much on our plates! The least we can do is be lenient with ourselves. Your best will be just fine.

THIS WEEKS GOAL/CHALLENGE

Simply make a conscious effort in finding praise within yourself. It can be anything monumental or minimal. Regardless, find the approval within yourself that you deserve.

SYNOPSIS

  • Seek the goals you set for yourself
  • Notice the the good in yourself. There’s some in everybody!
  • Be consciously optimistic. (With this year being as doubtful as it’s shaped to be, optimism can keep the hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel)
